we are the tide.

Outfit Details:
Totally rad cableknit sweater: H&M
Shoes: urbanog.com
Purse: Savers or Goodwill? I'm gonna say Savers.

Let me just start this by saying that it was nowhere near cold enough to wear previously mentioned rad sweater, which made me sad. And sweaty. I can't help it- I got way too excited about Fall that I forgot I lived in Arizona. Sweaters in 80-90 degree weather? Let's be real. Le sigh.

But I'm totally in love with this sweater. The color and the size (I got one a size bigger) are just perfect, and I can totally feel like a hobo and look stylish AT THE SAME TIME. Those are my priorities in life.

fall break.

Outfit Details:
Coral top: Free People (Nordy Rack!)
Tank:F21
Skirt: Self-made
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Nordy Rack

Oh, Fall Break. How I needed thee. How I yearned for ridiculous amounts of sleep and shopping. Even though it's technically just two days of break, I will take it. I've done more social things over the break than the start of the semester. Sad? Yes. Is it even sadder that I spent a lot of time making clothes instead of hanging out with friends? Also maybe yes. But I missed it so much. It's certainly handy if you don't have the money to buy something brand new or want a one of a kind item you can't find! I've also vowed to take more photos and post more, now that I've gotten a handle on my class schedules and whatnot.

And now for some naughty food pics:

Rolled tacos and carne asada fries? Yesh. Yesh ma'am.

I also saw Looper last night where my future hubby JGL was covered in prosthetics and ridiculous eyebrows. It's okay- I'll still love him no matter what obstacle. Have any of you seen it, and did it resemble a Skrillex music video for you too? Let me know.

She's Alive!

First off, I have to apologize for the offensively long hiatus from the blog: I am not quitting this blog or anything of the sort- I've just been crazy busy since classes have started again. I'm pretty sure you don't want to hear about how hard my classes are or how stressful exams are. So whenever I have something unrelated to school, I'll post it up here. But in the meantime, as I get settled into my new classes and whatnot, I'll be posting things up here more sporadically than usual!

However, you can follow me on Twitter and Tumblr: (I update them a lot more, and sometimes I make some funnies!)

I promise to keep posting things on here- it keeps my sanity. I need that stuff.

Also here's a picture of me reacting to my Doctor Who posters. Just because I hate text-only posts.

In defense of outdated trends.

In defense of outdated trends:

Links: Mom Jeans Gauchos Scrunchies 8ball Overalls

Overalls-
They were your 90's staple. Nothing says farmgirl chic than a faded, light denim pair of overalls that somehow managed to not correctly fit any part of your body. The epitome of sexy is playing hide and seek with the world. Your butt is hiding. And it's really, really good at this game.

Gauchos-
Ohh this is one of my favorites. The cousin of the balloon/MC Hammer Pants, the gauchos were the trendiest of the trendy in the early millennium. The best part of wearing these were magically making it appear to have no knees. Girl, it was just hip hip hip hip hip OH, found your ankles! You know where gauchos came from? South American cowboys. Let's just add women's beard moustaches and holsters with various animal skinning tools to the list of must-watch-for trends while we're at it.

Scrunchies-
I genuinely miss the scrunchie. Not too long ago my friend (an avid scrunchie-lover who was wearing one in her hair that day) and I were at a local H&M when a gaggle of middle school girls were silently gossiping and gasping, pointing at the aforementioned scrunchie. "Look, she's wearing a SCRUNCHAY." "Ehmagod RIGHT? I mean, that stuff went out of style before I was born. ...Right?" Shut up, middle school girls. You have no clue what you're missing out on. The colorful, non-hair pulling glory that is a scrunchie only graces the non-pinched heads of worthy women.

The 8-ball jacket- What are you wearing. I'm pretty sure you're wearing the skin of at least 8 animals. And each are a different color of the rainbow. But to be fair, those guys are probably just hoping that a hot girl just struts up to them and starts shaking them violently whilst yelling: DID TRACY REALLY KISS BLAKE OR IS SHE LYING AND HE REALLY JUST LOVES ME? ALSO DID I LEAVE MY CURLING IRON ON WHEN I LEFT THE APARTMENT?!!

Mom jeans-
"Heyyo 90's girl. Remember me? I'm those mom jeans everybody was sporting back in the day- men included. I miss you. I miss the fun memories we used to have. Remember when camel toes were like, the ISH way back when? Trust me, everyone just loved how I fit you only around the WIDEST PART OF YOUR BODY and made your legs literally look like sticks with no knees. Oh OHH! And oh, gosh, remember when Katie, your pen pal from high school said that the higher and bigger the back pockets on your jeans the better? Where was she from again? Florida? Wait how old was she? 67? Oh that doesn't matter, she was wise in her years. And you can thank me for those looks the guys gave you when they saw your perky bum in that poncho of fabric. It wasn't a look of disgust. It was awe. And wonder. They were all thinking, 'That girl must be so confident that she's willing to make her butt like marshmallow that's been microwaved too long because she knows those pants make her look FIIINE.' I miss us. Anyway, I saw Kim Kardashian wear some mom jeans last week on US Weekly, does that mean you'll take me out of the 'To incinerate' box in your closet? For memory's sake?"

*Obviously this post isn't meant to offend anyone. If you love and still rock any of these trends, more power to you. I get it. I still have a floral dress I wore in the 90's and I still wear it.

boating & america day!

Whoa, Soy. Way to be the only person with a blog in the U.S. not to post about what you did on the Fourth of July. Did you know some Americans think that Independence is a WORLDWIDE holiday? I'm not kidding you. If you think I'm an ignorant American I probably won't blame you. There's a lot of unedumacated fools up in hurr.

But my Fourth of July was amazing. We spent the afternoon soaking up some sun on my uncle's boat out on the river and I loved it so much! Complete the day with some fish tacos, fireworks, and crepes and you've got yourself a very happy and full Soyoung.

-Hope your Fourth of July went fabulously (assuming you live in AMERICUHH! [said in a redneck accent])

summer lovin'

Outfit details:
Blouse- Nordstrom Rack
Shoes- Nordstrom Rack
High Waist shorts- Some little shop in Korea

I decided that I love my hair. It's this weird orangey color with a few strands of sickly green... But I'm embracing my laziness to change it and further fry my hair. Lately I just want to cut it all off, too. I'm pretty sure I'm just itching to get it done since it's the summer and come winter I'll absolutely regret it... You know those cute girls with the pixie cut and they wear flowered dresses and other crazy cute stuff? I'm jelly.

But I think I'll just stick with the puke hair. :) ALSO! I'm looking to get a tattoo this month and have found a few places in Portland. If any of the readers have had a tattoo, do you know if I need a consultation to get some writing on my  back? Just 7 words, and not very big at all. I figure better safe than sorry, but I'm still curious!

Sleep & Seattle.

**WARNING: This post, in particular, is picture obese.

Okay. So now I understand why people argue about whether or not Portland or Seattle is better in terms of sheer awesomeness. Both have amazing and a great variety of food, and an equally wide range of things to do. We went to the Pacific Science Center where I geeked out a little, and on the way we passed a sci-fi/music/pop culture museum. YEAH. THEY HAVE THOSE. They had a poster of a Dalek out front and I guess they had a Doctor Who exhibit? Put that on the list of things to do in Seattle. It will happen.

Did I mention the food? We went to a pizzeria nearby, Tutto Bella, and it was so cute and the pizza. Good.

Molly Moon's ice cream. Got me some Stumptown coffee ice cream :) The salted caramel was a close contender. No joke. That ice cream was life-changing.

Fun with mirrors. Anywhoozles, that's been my wonderful weekend in Seattle with the fam bam. I've decided that I love this place.
