How to keep it Classy and Cropped.

I've made some observations about the crop top trend, and as much as I love this style, I personally can't bring myself to reveal so much of my midsection- I think there are ways to pull it off that shows just a *sliver* of skin and it's just so much classier. The trick is to not make it look like you literally put on a bra and booty shorts. Make it show that every piece you wear is intentional!

How you portray your body says a lot about what you think about yourself, so these are just a few crop top options that show just enough.

OBSERVE!

1.Fitted crop top with a long flowy high waist maxi skirt
I am a big proponent of outfits that are well-balanced. Something short and tight needs to be paired up with something relatively long and loose. Tight + tight should be restricted to nights out and loose + loose should be... lazy Sundays or Woodstock.

2. Crop top and high waist trousers/ harem pants.
Such accessories. Much wow. A classic white tee crop with some semi-fitted high waist trousers is such a versatile option- and not to mention the kickass accessories. This. I want all of this.

3. Boxy crop top and high waist skirt

Now this option is a little riskier and probably intended for girls with an obviously smaller waist- or you risk the crop top giving the illusion that your waist is bigger than it is. However I really enjoy how the silhouettes offset each other- it gives it a little variety.

4. Honorable mention: Bold crop top and skirt sets

I love, love, love this outfit. Like, so much you guys. It's a problem. The only reason I give it Honorable Mention is because it shows a little too much skin for a casual occasion in my opinion. You could consider getting a longer crop top, but with such a bold graphic print as this, a little break is definitely welcome visually. I'd consider this a perfect outfit for a day on the beach or maybe a music festival? This is a bold option, and I'm definitely going to try and make my fair share of sets for the shop this summer.

Some words of caution:

I'm over crop tops and high waist denim shorts... Maybe because I see so many girls on my campus that choose to sport this option. I feel like there are so many creative wears to sport this piece of apparel, don't limit yourself! Besides, in 20 years your kids are going to think those shorts are ridiculous. (It's okay I love wearing them, too.)

Flower Headband Tutorial

Well hello stranger! I have been gone for quite a while, but hopefully this tutorial will make some amends. I've been seeing floral headbands around for a long time, and I have grown fond of the large, very obnoxious headbands, so I thought I'd give it a go and teach you how to do it!

Here goes nothing:

 Outfit Details:
Dress: H&M
Belt: Ross? Methinks?
Flats: Charlotte Russe

Hello again! Long time no see, eh? I feel as though I say that too much lately... I hope your New Years was lovely, mine certainly was. I just relaxed, played League, baked, and slept. It was. Beautiful. Now I find myself watching episodes of Merlin, Catfish, and playing Jenga. (Not by myself, guys.)

Although I would like to post more often, I feel like lugging a DSLR everywhere isn't exactly optimal. So I give you the ultimate solution:

Follow me on Instagram! :) I update a bit more frequently, and I'm in need of a few followers and a few to follow!

As for now, I will keep updating this blog with outfit posts and writing and let's keep in touch, yeah? How are you guys doing anyway?! How did you spend your Winter Break, and what are your New Year's Resolutions? Mine is to be a more sympathetic person.

party like it's december 20th.

Happy Holidays, and a big congratulations to the surviving members of the end of the world. We did it, guys!

But yes, finals are over and relaxation has commenced! As you can tell I've already started on the gluttonous consumption of sugar: I made the infamous Jacques Torres cookies and they were hands down THE BEST COOKIES I'VE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE LIKE EVER. Everyone loved them, and it was so fun to wrap them up in wax paper and make little gifts out of them. I also bought a special Christmas cupcake from Caketini (did I mention that I totally use my friends' employee discounts wherever they work?). I'm a glutton, I have a problem.

But it's so very nice to be taking pictures and blogging again, I kind of forget what to do when I'm not in school, does that happen to you? Like I always take up hobbies over the break to keep me busy. This year it's baking, knitting, blogging, and playing league of legends. Yes, you heard me correctly. I'm not proud of it, per se, but it keeps me busy and it's addicting.

PLEASE HELP ME.
I hope your break/holiday season is going amazingly!!

Finals. Finals, guys. With Thanksgiving around the corner, I've been so stressed about finals and all that comes with it. I cannot wait for Christmas- relaxation, food, Christmas music, food, presents, the new year, and food.

Did I mention the food? Can't forget that. Hope all is well with you, and that you're taking whatever stress you have waaay better than I am!

i was a lover

 Outfit Details:
Collared top: Charlotte Russe
Leggings: H&M
Skull necklace: H&M

Happy Monday, my gorgeous popsicles! Also, happy Election Day's Eve! I'm kind of psyched about the season- fall drinks at Starbucks (you can say they're stupid and frivolous, but their sea salt only comes around so often), elections taking place, and the mid-semester mark with all of my classes. I've got the proper motivation, made a schedule and everything, and am going to be an efficient, ochem-passing MACHINE.

Also, can I take a second to tell you how much I love these leggings? I love them so much. Like, way more that I should. It tears me up inside knowing that I don't have a lot of tops to match, so I had to borrow my roomie's. But oh, you will see these babies again. I assure it.

sunday mornin rain is falling

Phew! Has it been a week since I posted? I'm trying to keep it updated as much as possible, and this week was filled with awesome food. Those are the best weeks. I celebrated a friend's birthday with a trip to Joe's Farm Grill and some gelato. Also, I made some homemade granola with a recipe from Katia's blog over at Kittysnooks and it turned out so well! I never made granola before, but it tasted fantastic! Thanks, Katia (:

Outfit Details:
Dress: Self made
Belt: Goodwill
Purse: Savers
Flats: F21

I made this dress over the weekend instead of doing homework, on a Saturday night. There were two things wrong with that sentence. I shouldn't do homework on a weekend, and also, it was Saturday night. Whatever happened to a college social life, huh? Not that I mind, I much preferred it! I improvised on the skirt, and I got the bodice pattern from the Selfish Seamstress for her Coffee Date Dress. It was a little tighter than I'd prefer for my size, but other than that it worked out pretty darn well! I've always loved brocades/upholstery fabrics for fall and winter. I feel like I'm a walking curtain though, which is just great.

Something tells me I'll be procrastinating on homework a lot more though...
